Register Certified Board Member is proof of professionalism for non-executive board members who take their role on a supervisory board seriously. This means that they invest in knowledge, skills and that they are intrinsically aware of their social responsibility. The register makes the professional attitude of the non-executive board member visible and verifiable.
POSITIVE IMAGE FOR NON-EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS
That was the wish of a parliamentary committee, spring of 2016, when it called for action. The first supervisory board members were certified in 2017. Since 2018, the register is the responsibility of an independent foundation that, together with partners, further shapes the development and content of the register.
An RCBM certificate is not a guarantee that prevents mistakes in the boardroom to happen. However, a certificate is at least a token of:
Professional competence
A CBM acknowledges that being a supervisory board member is not something one does on the side.
Investment
A CBM knows that it is a profession in which you must invest constantly to keep up with your knowledge and skills.
Responsibility
A CBM experiences a broad social responsibility and respects the Code.
