Certified Board Member is a proof of professionalism for non-executive board members who take their role on a supervisory board seriously. Since the quality of governance is shaped by the interaction between executives and non-executives, RCBM, since 2025, also offers executives the opportunity to distinguish themselves through certification.

Certified Board Members continuously invest in their knowledge and skills and are constantly aware of their social and societal responsibilities. The Register makes the professional commitment of executive and non-executive board members both visible and verifiable.

For aspiring and early-career non-executives who aim to become certified in the future, RCBM offers the opportunity to join as Associate Member, allowing them to share knowledge and experience with Certified Board Members.

POSITIVE IMAGE FOR NON-EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS

That was the wish of a parliamentary committee, spring of 2016, when it called for action. The first supervisory board members were certified in 2017. Since 2018, the register is the responsibility of an independent foundation that, together with partners, further shapes the development and content of the register.
An RCBM certificate is not a guarantee that prevents mistakes in the boardroom to happen. However, a certificate is at least a token of:
